MidAtlantic Seminar - Iceland
02.19.2010 I traveled to Iceland this month representing the Market Ghost Tours at the Mid-Atlantic Tourism Seminar in Iceland. Iceland Air has started non-stop service to Seattle five days a week from Reykjavik in 2009. It's an easy flight and from Reykjavik, all of Europe is accessible. This was the 17th year of the Seminar put on by Iceland Air.
500 people attended the Seminar. The Ghost Tours were the only Seattle supplier present amongst other travel providers from all over the world. There were other Washington travel agents present but the Ghost Tours were the only company to have a booth and give a presentation! I spoke for ten minutes to a mainly Northern European audience. I had prepared a slide show of the Market and ghostly activity, including orbs in the Market. When it came time to show the slide show and explain the pictures, there were a few heads nodding. I noticed a man in the back of the audience laughing under his breath when photos of orbs on the ramp were shown. I called him out and said "Sir, I can see your confused and it's not because you don't understand my English." The room erupted in laughter. You see it was the first time a ghost tour had ever made a presentation and he was delighted or perhaps confused with the orbs.
It was a wonderful event. I met people from all over the world and introduced them to the Market and to our tours. Iceland was beautiful as well. Iceland Air provided tours for participants which meant we all had a chance to see the country. Reykjavik is exceptional as a tourist destination; full of natural beauty, art, food, and music. I will definetly be going back next year and look forward to entertaining people from the Seminar when they come to Seattle. We already had one group come down within days of my returning. Good sign! ~ Mercedes
