Austin Texas Ghost Tour

I am in Austin, Texas for a much needed vacation. I just finished the Austin Ghost Tour and it was fantastic. My tour guide was Monica (wierd that one of the tour guides for the Market Ghost Tour is also named Monica). Austin is full of people and noise, especially 6th Street so she had alot to compete with and she was very good at dealing and incorporating the noise around her. We traveled from the center of town, close to the Capitol at 6th and Congress, down to the O'Henry house and then to what was known as "Guytown". The stories were entertaining, very visual and even at times un-nerving (creepy and good!). Along the way I felt sensations in my body and saw a few things that were all verified in her stories which un-nerved me even more. The land Austin is on is very interesting. We went into the Driscoll Hotel which was sumptious to look at and it certainly gave us an idea of the grandeur and ambition of early Austin. Turns out Austin also has the very first serial killer. It began in 1884 and continued for a year, he was known as the "Servant Girl Killer". Terrifying stories and details were shared. The tour did a pretty good job of blending history and ghosts. What I missed however was what I find in the Market, the history of the actual buildings and land. What were these buildings, how did the city grow? Why did the city get situated here? I felt very strongly the presence of soldiers in one building where the Hard Rock Cafe was, soldiers from the Spanish American War and victims of cholera - but could that be true? It will take some investigating on my part. I highly recommend the tour: Austin Ghost Tour
